Benjamin James Dwarshuis (born 23 June 1994) is an Australian cricketer who represents the Australian national team in both One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) formats. A left-arm fast-medium bowler, Dwarshuis is known for his swing, pace, and ability to perform under pressure in limited-overs cricket. He plays domestically for New South Wales and represents the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Early life and family

Ben Dwarshuis was born on 23 June 1994 in Kareela, New South Wales, into an Australian family of Dutch descent. He completed his education at Heathcote High School in the Sutherland Shire. Dwarshuis is married to Courtney Bridge.

Domestic career

Dwarshuis made his List A debut for New South Wales during the 2016–17 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup on 7 October 2016. He quickly gained attention for his consistency and wicket-taking abilities in the death overs.

In the Big Bash League, Dwarshuis became one of the key bowlers for the Sydney Sixers, helping the team secure multiple titles. In January 2022, during the 2021–22 BBL season, he took his maiden five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.

Franchise and overseas career

In January 2018, Dwarshuis was named in Australia’s T20I squad for the 2017–18 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series and was subsequently bought by Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. He joined Worcestershire County Cricket Club for the 2021 T20 Blast in England and was later signed by the Delhi Capitals as a replacement for Chris Woakes during the 2021 IPL held in the UAE.

In December 2024, Dwarshuis returned to Worcestershire for a second spell ahead of the 2025 T20 Blast season.

International career

Dwarshuis made his Twenty20 International debut for Australia on 5 April 2022 against Pakistan. He later earned his One Day International debut cap (No. 248) on 19 September 2024 against England. In November 2023, he was named in Australia’s squad for the five-match T20 series against India, where he notably picked up three wickets for 40 runs in the fourth T20I. He was also part of Australia’s squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Personal life

Off the field, Dwarshuis is known for his humble demeanor and disciplined lifestyle. He continues to contribute to domestic cricket while maintaining a strong presence in international limited-overs formats.
