Saransh Jain

Saransh Subodh Jain (born 31 March 1993), commonly known as Saransh Jain, is an Indian cricketer who represents Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket and the India national cricket team at international level. He is a bowling all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm off-break.

Born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Jain developed through the Madhya Pradesh domestic cricket system and made his first-class debut during the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy. He later made his List A debut in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. After more than a decade of domestic cricket, he received his maiden India Test cap on 23 August 2026 during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Early life

Saransh Jain was born on 31 March 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. He developed as a left-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler and progressed through the domestic cricket structure in Madhya Pradesh.

Jain established himself primarily as a bowling all-rounder, combining off-spin bowling with lower-order batting. His domestic career eventually included appearances for Madhya Pradesh, Central Zone, India A, Rest of India, India D and other representative sides.

Madhya Pradesh

Jain began his senior domestic career with Madhya Pradesh and made his first-class debut on 21 December 2014 against Tamil Nadu in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy. He subsequently became a regular part of Madhya Pradesh's red-ball setup.

His List A debut came on 25 February 2017 for Madhya Pradesh against Rajasthan in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Over the course of his domestic career, Jain developed into a dependable off-spinner and all-rounder. His performances in domestic cricket eventually earned him recognition at the national level after more than a decade in the professional game.

Other representative teams

Jain has represented several domestic and representative sides during his career, including Central Zone, India A, Rest of India and India D. He has also been associated with Jabalpur Royal Lions and Royal Nimar Eagles.

International career

Test debut

On 23 August 2026, Jain made his international debut for India in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. He was presented with his maiden India Test cap by Ravindra Jadeja before the match.

At 33 years of age, Jain's international debut came after more than a decade of domestic cricket. His selection followed the absence of regular spin options, with Kuldeep Yadav unavailable for the match and Washington Sundar ruled out of the Sri Lanka series.

His debut made him India's oldest Test debutant in the 21st century at the age of 33 years and 145 days, according to reports citing cricket statistics.

Playing style

Jain is a bowling all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm off-break. His primary role is as an off-spinner, while his batting provides additional depth to the team.

His ability to contribute in both disciplines made him a valuable player in Madhya Pradesh's domestic setup. His right-arm off-spin provides a conventional spin option, while his left-handed batting gives balance to the lower order.
