Suneel darshan
Suneel Darshan is an Indian filmmaker, film director, producer and writer associated with the Hindi film industry. He has worked across production, direction and screenwriting and has been associated with a number of commercially successful Hindi films.
Darshan began his career as a film producer in the late 1980s before moving into direction and writing. His filmography includes Ajay (1996), Jaanwar (1999), Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love (2001), Andaaz (2003), Barsaat (2005), Dosti: Friends Forever (2005), Shakalaka Boom Boom (2007) and Karle Pyaar Karle (2014).
He was born into the Bhatt family and is the brother of filmmaker Dharmesh Darshan.
Early career and production
Suneel Darshan entered the Hindi film industry as a producer in 1987. One of his early productions was Inteqam, starring Sunny Deol and Anil Kapoor.
In 1993, he produced Lootere, which marked the directorial debut of his brother Dharmesh Darshan. The film performed successfully at the box office and established a professional collaboration between the two brothers.
Directorial debut
Darshan made his directorial debut with the action film Ajay in 1996. The film starred Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor, with Darshan serving as director and producer and also contributing the dialogue.
Despite a theatre strike in Maharashtra in January 1997, Ajay performed well commercially and established Darshan as a director in Hindi cinema.
Jaanwar and commercial success
In 1999, Darshan directed and produced Jaanwar, an action drama starring Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty.
The film marked his first collaboration with Akshay Kumar and became a commercial success. Its performance further strengthened Darshan's association with mainstream Hindi action and drama films.
Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love
Darshan's next major directorial project was Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love (2001). He served as the film's writer, director and producer.
The film featured an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla. It became one of the highest-grossing films of 2001 and received positive critical attention.
Production work
Following Ek Rishtaa, Darshan continued to focus substantially on film production.
He produced Andaaz (2003), which became a major commercial success. He subsequently produced Barsaat and Dosti: Friends Forever in 2005. Dosti: Friends Forever was particularly successful in overseas markets.
His later directorial film Shakalaka Boom Boom was released in 2007 and did not perform strongly at the box office.
Karle Pyaar Karle
After a seven-year gap from filmmaking, Darshan returned with Karle Pyaar Karle in 2014.
The film introduced his son Shiv Darshan as an actor. Directed and produced by Suneel Darshan, the film marked his son's launch in Hindi cinema. It was declared a commercial disaster at the Indian box office.

Family
Suneel Darshan belongs to the Bhatt family of the Indian film industry. His brother Dharmesh Darshan is a filmmaker who made his directorial debut with Lootere, which was produced by Suneel.
His son Shiv Darshan entered Hindi cinema as an actor with Karle Pyaar Karle in 2014.
