Pasindu Sooriyabandara
Pasindu Sooriyabandara (Sinhala: පසිඳු සූරියබණ්ඩාර; born 19 October 1999) is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has represented several domestic cricket teams, including Sinhalese Sports Club and Moors Sports Club. He has played first-class, List A and Twenty20 cricket in Sri Lanka.
Sooriyabandara began his senior domestic career with Sinhalese Sports Club and later represented Moors Sports Club in List A cricket. In August 2026, he was selected in Sri Lanka's Test squad for the home series against India, marking a significant step in his career at international level.
Domestic career
Sooriyabandara began his domestic career with Sinhalese Sports Club. He made his first-class debut for the club in the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament on 7 December 2016.
His early involvement in first-class cricket provided him with experience in Sri Lanka's domestic red-ball competition and helped establish him within the country's wider domestic cricket system.
Sooriyabandara later expanded his experience into the shorter formats. He made his Twenty20 debut for Sinhalese Sports Club on 4 January 2020 in the 2019–20 SLC Twenty20 Tournament.
On 28 March 2021, he made his List A debut for Moors Sports Club in the 2020–21 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament.
Over the following seasons, Sooriyabandara continued to feature in Sri Lanka's domestic cricket structure across multiple formats.
International selection
In August 2026, Sooriyabandara was selected in Sri Lanka's Test squad for the series against India.
His selection came after several years of experience in domestic first-class and limited-overs cricket. The call-up represented an important milestone in his career and placed him among the players considered for Sri Lanka's Test setup.
Playing career
Sooriyabandara has experience across all three major domestic formats in Sri Lanka: first-class cricket, List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket. His progression from domestic cricket to selection for the national Test squad reflects his development through Sri Lanka's domestic system.
