Muralikrishna Prasidh Krishna (born 19 February 1996) is an Indian international cricketer who represents the Indian national cricket team as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He plays domestic cricket for Karnataka and represents the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Known for his steep bounce, pace, and ability to extract movement on lively surfaces, Krishna has emerged as one of India’s promising fast bowlers of his generation. He was part of India’s victorious squad at the 2023 Asia Cup and the runners-up team at the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
Krishna made a remarkable One Day International debut on 23 March 2021 against England, taking 4 wickets and breaking a 24-year-old Indian record for most wickets on ODI debut. He made his Test debut at Centurion Park against South Africa, claiming his maiden Test wicket in the match.
Domestic Career
Prasidh Krishna made his first-class debut for Karnataka during Bangladesh A’s tour of India in September 2015, taking 5 for 49 in a match that gained attention due to the absence of Karnataka’s frontline pace attack. He struck with his first ball, dismissing Rony Talukdar, and dismantled the opposition lineup with wickets of Anamul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, and Nasir Hossain, setting up a four-wicket win for Karnataka.
He debuted in List A cricket during the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017 and made his T20 debut for Karnataka in the 2017–18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21 January 2018. Krishna finished as the leading wicket-taker for Karnataka in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, claiming 13 wickets in seven matches.
He featured in the 2018 A-team Quadrangular Series for India A and was later included in India’s squad for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, he recorded his maiden first-class ten-wicket haul against Jammu & Kashmir, returning figures of 6/35 and 4/59.
Indian Premier League
Prasidh Krishna entered the IPL in 2018 when Kolkata Knight Riders signed him as an injury replacement for Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He made his debut against Mumbai Indians on 6 May 2018. In 2022, he was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for ₹10 crore in the mega auction.
At the 2025 IPL auction, Krishna was bought by the Gujarat Titans for ₹9.5 crore. He delivered a career-defining season, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 25 wickets and winning the Purple Cap.
International Career
Krishna received his maiden international call-up in March 2021 for the ODI series against England. He made an impactful debut by taking 4 wickets in a 66-run victory for India. He was also named a standby player for the 2021 ICC World Test Championship final and India’s tour of England.
In February 2022, he earned the Player of the Match award for his 4 for 12 spell against West Indies and went on to win the Player of the Series award with another strong performance in the third ODI. He was later included in India’s Test squad for the rescheduled fifth Test against England in 2022.
Following Hardik Pandya’s injury during the 2023 Cricket World Cup, Krishna was added to India’s squad on 5 November 2023. Later that month, he became the most expensive Indian bowler in T20I history after conceding 68 runs in four overs.
In 2025, Krishna was selected for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, playing the first, second and fifth Tests and finishing with 14 wickets at an average of 37.07.
